| 15:1 | أَلِف-لَام-رَا تِلكَ آيَاتُ الكِتَابِ وَقُرآن ٍ مُبِين ٍ Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Qur'an. 'Alif-Lam-Ra Tilka 'Āyatu Al-Kitabi Wa Qur'anin Mubinin |
| 15:2 | رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَو كَانُوا مُسلِمِينَ Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. Rubama Yawaddu Al-Ladhina Kafarū Law Kanū Muslimina |
| 15:3 | ذَرهُم يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلهِهِمُ الأَمَلُ فَسَوفَ يَعلَمُونَ Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! Dharhum Ya'kulū Wa Yatamatta`ū Wa Yulhihimu Al-'Amalu Fasawfa Ya`lamūna |
| 15:4 | وَمَا أَهلَكنَا مِنقَريَة ٍ إِلاَّ وَلَهَا كِتَاب ٌ مَعلُوم ٌ And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. Wa Ma 'Ahlakna Min Qaryatin 'Illa Wa Laha Kitabun Ma`lūmun |
| 15:5 | مَا تَسبِقُ مِن أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَستَأْخِرُونَ No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. Ma Tasbiqu Min 'Ummatin 'Ajalaha Wa Ma Yasta'khirūna |
| 15:6 | وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيهِ الذِّكرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُون ٌ And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW ) to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'an) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. Wa Qalū Ya 'Ayyuha Al-Ladhi Nuzzila `Alayhi Adh-Dhikru 'Innaka Lamajnūnun |
| 15:7 | لَو مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنكُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" Law Ma Ta'tina Bil-Mala'ikati 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şadiqina |
| 15:8 | مَا نُنَزِّلُ المَلاَئِكَةَ إِلاَّ بِالحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذا ً مُنْظَرِينَ We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! Ma Nunazzilu Al-Mala'ikata 'Illa Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Ma Kanū 'Idhaan Munžarina |
| 15:9 | إِنَّا نَحنُ نَزَّلنَا الذِّكرَ وَإِنَّا لَه ُُ لَحَافِظُونَ Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 'Inna Naĥnu Nazzalna Adh-Dhikra Wa 'Inna Lahu Laĥafižūna |
| 15:10 | وَلَقَدأَرسَلنَا مِنقَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الأَوَّلِينَ Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. Wa Laqad 'Arsalna Min Qablika Fi Shiya`i Al-'Awwalina |
| 15:11 | وَمَا يَأْتِيهِممِنرَسُول ٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِه ِِ يَستَهزِئُونَ And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. Wa Ma Ya'tihim Min Rasūlin 'Illa Kanū Bihi Yastahzi'ūna |
| 15:12 | كَذَلِكَ نَسلُكُه ُُ فِي قُلُوبِ المُجْرِمِينَ Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. Kadhalika Naslukuhu Fi Qulūbi Al-Mujrimina |
| 15:13 | لاَ يُؤمِنُونَ بِه ِِ وَقَدخَلَت سُنَّةُ الأَوَّلِينَ They would not believe in it (the Qur'an), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. La Yu'uminūna Bihi Wa Qad Khalat Sunnatu Al-'Awwalina |
| 15:14 | وَلَو فَتَحنَا عَلَيهِمبَابا ً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيه ِِ يَعرُجُونَ And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, Wa Law Fataĥna `Alayhim Babaan Mina As-Sama'i Fažallū Fihi Ya`rujūna |
| 15:15 | لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَت أَبْصَارُنَا بَل نَحنُ قَوم ٌ مَسحُورُونَ They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." Laqalū 'Innama Sukkirat 'Abşaruna Bal Naĥnu Qawmun Masĥūrūna |
| 15:16 | وَلَقَدجَعَلنَا فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجا ً وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِرِينَ And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders. Wa Laqad Ja`alna Fi As-Sama'i Burūjaan Wa Zayyannaha Lilnnažirina |
| 15:17 | وَحَفِظنَاهَا مِنكُلِّ شَيطَان ٍ رَجِيم ٍ And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitan (devil). Wa Ĥafižnaha Min Kulli Shayţanin Rajimin |
| 15:18 | إِلاَّ مَنِ استَرَقَ السَّمعَ فَأَتبَعَه ُُ شِهَاب ٌ مُبِين ٌ Except him (devil) that gains hearing by stealing, he is pursued by a clear flaming fire. 'Illa Mani Astaraqa As-Sam`a Fa'atba`ahu Shihabun Mubinun |
| 15:19 | وَالأَرضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلقَينَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتنَا فِيهَا مِنكُلِّ شَيء ٍ مَوزُون ٍ And the earth We spread out, and placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein all kinds of things in due proportion. Wa Al-'Arđa Madadnaha Wa 'Alqayna Fiha Rawasiya Wa 'Anbatna Fiha Min Kulli Shay'in Mawzūnin |
| 15:20 | وَجَعَلنَا لَكُم فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنلَستُم لَه ُُ بِرَازِقِينَ And We have provided therein means of living, for you and for those whom you provide not [moving (living) creatures, cattle, beasts, and other animals]. Wa Ja`alna Lakum Fiha Ma`ayisha Wa Man Lastum Lahu Biraziqina |
| 15:21 | وَإِنمِنشَيء ٍ إِلاَّ عِنْدَنَا خَزَائِنُه ُُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ~ُ إِلاَّ بِقَدَر ٍ مَعلُوم ٍ And there is not a thing, but with Us are the stores thereof. And We send it not down except in a known measure. Wa 'In Min Shay'in 'Illa `Indana Khaza'inuhu Wa Ma Nunazziluhu 'Illa Biqadarin Ma`lūmin |
| 15:22 | وَأَرسَلنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنْزَلنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاء ً فَأَسقَينَاكُمُوه ُُ وَمَا أَنْتُم لَه ُُ بِخَازِنِينَ And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like]. Wa 'Arsalna Ar-Riyaĥa Lawaqiĥa Fa'anzalna Mina As-Sama'i Ma'an Fa'asqaynakumūhu Wa Ma 'Antum Lahu Bikhazinina |
| 15:23 | وَإِنَّا لَنَحنُ نُحيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحنُ الوَارِثُونَ And certainly We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the Inheritors. Wa 'Inna Lanaĥnu Nuĥyi Wa Numitu Wa Naĥnu Al-Warithūna |
| 15:24 | وَلَقَدعَلِمنَا المُستَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُم وَلَقَدعَلِمنَا المُستَأْخِرِينَ And indeed, We know the first generations of you who had passed away, and indeed, We know the present generations of you (mankind), and also those who will come afterwards. Wa Laqad `Alimna Al-Mustaqdimina Minkum Wa Laqad `Alimna Al-Musta'khirina |
| 15:25 | وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحشُرُهُم إِنَّه ُُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيم ٌ And verily, your Lord will gather them together. Truly, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing. Wa 'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Yaĥshuruhum 'Innahu Ĥakimun `Alimun |
| 15:26 | وَلَقَدخَلَقْنَا الإِنسَانَ مِنصَلصَال ٍ مِن حَمَإ ٍ مَسنُون ٍ And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. Wa Laqad Khalaqna Al-'Insana Min Şalşalin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin |
| 15:27 | وَالجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاه ُُ مِنقَبْلُ مِننَارِ السَّمُومِ And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. Wa Al-Janna Khalaqnahu Min Qablu Min Nari As-Samūmi |
| 15:28 | وَإِذ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِق ٌ بَشَرا ً مِنصَلصَال ٍ مِن حَمَإ ٍ مَسنُون ٍ And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. Wa 'Idh Qala Rabbuka Lilmala'ikati 'Inni Khaliqun Basharaan Min Şalşalin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin |
| 15:29 | فَإِذَا سَوَّيتُه ُُ وَنَفَختُ فِيه ِِ مِنرُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَه ُُ سَاجِدِينَ "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." Fa'idha Sawwaytuhu Wa Nafakhtu Fihi Min Rūĥi Faqa`ū Lahu Sajidina |
| 15:30 | فَسَجَدَ المَلاَئِكَةُ كُلُّهُم أَجْمَعُونَ So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. Fasajada Al-Mala'ikatu Kulluhum 'Ajma`ūna |
| 15:31 | إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى أَنيَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 'Illa 'Iblisa 'Abá 'An Yakūna Ma`a As-Sajidina |
| 15:32 | قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلاَّ تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" Qala Ya 'Iblisu Ma Laka 'Alla Takūna Ma`a As-Sajidina |
| 15:33 | قَالَ لَم أَكُنلِأسجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَه ُُ مِنصَلصَال ٍ مِن حَمَإ ٍ مَسنُون ٍ [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." Qala Lam 'Akun Li'sjuda Libasharin Khalaqtahu Min Şalşalin Min Ĥama'iin Masnūnin |
| 15:34 | قَالَ فَاخرُجمِنهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيم ٌ (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] Qala Fakhruj Minha Fa'innaka Rajimun |
| 15:35 | وَإِنَّ عَلَيكَ اللَّعنَةَ إِلَى يَومِ الدِّينِ "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." Wa 'Inna `Alayka Al-La`nata 'Ilá Yawmi Ad-Dini |
| 15:36 | قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرنِي إِلَى يَومِ يُبْعَثُونَ [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." Qala Rabbi Fa'anžirni 'Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna |
| 15:37 | قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنْظَرِينَ Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, Qala Fa'innaka Mina Al-Munžarina |
| 15:38 | إِلَى يَومِ الوَقْتِ المَعلُومِ "Till the Day of the time appointed." 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Waqti Al-Ma`lūmi |
| 15:39 | قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغوَيتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُم فِي الأَرضِ وَلَأُغوِيَنَّهُم أَجْمَعِينَ [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. Qala Rabbi Bima 'Aghwaytani La'uzayyinanna Lahum Fi Al-'Arđi Wa La'ughwiyannahum 'Ajma`ina |
| 15:40 | إِلاَّ عِبَادَكَ مِنهُمُ المُخلَصِينَ "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 'Illa `Ibadaka Minhumu Al-Mukhlaşina |
| 15:41 | قَالَ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُستَقِيم ٌ (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." Qala Hadha Şiraţun `Alayya Mustaqimun |
| 15:42 | إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيسَ لَكَ عَلَيهِم سُلطَان ٌ إِلاَّ مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الغَاوِينَ "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 'Inna `Ibadi Laysa Laka `Alayhim Sulţanun 'Illa Mani Attaba`aka Mina Al-Ghawina |
| 15:43 | وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوعِدُهُم أَجْمَعِينَ "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. Wa 'Inna Jahannama Lamaw`iduhum 'Ajma`ina |
| 15:44 | لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَاب ٍ لِكُلِّ بَاب ٍ مِنهُم جُزء ٌ مَقْسُوم ٌ "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. Laha Sab`atu 'Abwabin Likulli Babin Minhum Juz'un Maqsūmun |
| 15:45 | إِنَّ المُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّات ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ "Truly! The Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise). 'Inna Al-Muttaqina Fi Jannatin Wa `Uyūnin |
| 15:46 | ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلاَم ٍ آمِنِينَ "(It will be said to them): 'Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.' Adkhulūha Bisalamin 'Āminina |
| 15:47 | وَنَزَعنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِممِن غِلّ ٍ إِخوَاناً عَلَى سُرُر ٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ "And We shall remove from their breasts any sense of injury (that they may have), (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. Wa Naza`na Ma Fi Şudūrihim Min Ghillin 'Ikhwanaan `Alá Sururin Mutaqabilina |
| 15:48 | لاَ يَمَسُّهُم فِيهَا نَصَب ٌ وَمَا هُممِنهَا بِمُخرَجِينَ "No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it." La Yamassuhum Fiha Naşabun Wa Ma Hum Minha Bimukhrajina |
| 15:49 | نَبِّئ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ Declare (O Muhammad SAW) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful. Nabbi' `Ibadi 'Anni 'Ana Al-Ghafūru Ar-Raĥimu |
| 15:50 | وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ العَذَابُ الأَلِيمُ And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment. Wa 'Anna `Adhabi Huwa Al-`Adhabu Al-'Alimu |
| 15:51 | وَنَبِّئهُم عَنضَيفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrahim (Abraham). Wa Nabbi'hum `An Đayfi 'Ibrahima |
| 15:52 | إِذ دَخَلُوا عَلَيهِ فَقَالُوا سَلاَما ً قَالَ إِنَّا مِنْكُم وَجِلُونَ When they entered unto him, and said: Salaman (peace)! [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Indeed! We are afraid of you." 'Idh Dakhalū `Alayhi Faqalū Salamaan Qala 'Inna Minkum Wajilūna |
| 15:53 | قَالُوا لاَ تَوجَل إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلاَمٍ عَلِيم ٍ They (the angels) said: "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom." Qalū La Tawjal 'Inna Nubashshiruka Bighulamin `Alimin |
| 15:54 | قَالَ أَبَشَّرتُمُونِي عَلَى أَنمَسَّنِيَ الكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?" Qala 'Abashshartumūni `Alá 'An Massaniya Al-Kibaru Fabima Tubashshirūna |
| 15:55 | قَالُوا بَشَّرنَاكَ بِالحَقِّ فَلاَ تَكُنمِنَ القَانِطِينَ They (the angels) said: "We give you glad tidings in truth. So be not of the despairing ones." Qalū Bashsharnaka Bil-Ĥaqqi Fala Takun Mina Al-Qaniţina |
| 15:56 | قَالَ وَمَنيَقْنَطُ مِنرَحمَةِ رَبِّهِ~ِ إِلاَّ الضَّالُّونَ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?" Qala Wa Man Yaqnaţu Min Raĥmati Rabbihi 'Illa Ađ-Đallūna |
| 15:57 | قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُم أَيُّهَا المُرسَلُونَ [Ibrahim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?" Qala Fama Khaţbukum 'Ayyuha Al-Mursalūna |
| 15:58 | قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرسِلنَا إِلَى قَوم ٍ مُجْرِمِينَ They (the angels) said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners). Qalū 'Inna 'Ursilna 'Ilá Qawmin Mujrimina |
| 15:59 | إِلاَّ آلَ لُوط ٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُم أَجْمَعِينَ "(All) except the family of Lout (Lot). Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction). 'Illa 'Āla Lūţin 'Inna Lamunajjūhum 'Ajma`ina |
| 15:60 | إِلاَّ امرَأَتَه ُُ قَدَّرنَا إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الغَابِرِينَ "Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)." 'Illa Amra'atahu Qaddarna 'Innaha Lamina Al-Ghabirina |
| 15:61 | فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوط ٍ المُرسَلُونَ Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). Falamma Ja'a 'Āla Lūţin Al-Mursalūna |
| 15:62 | قَالَ إِنَّكُم قَوم ٌ مُنْكَرُونَ He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." Qala 'Innakum Qawmun Munkarūna |
| 15:63 | قَالُوا بَل جِئنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيه ِِ يَمتَرُونَ They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. Qalū Bal Ji'naka Bima Kanū Fihi Yamtarūna |
| 15:64 | وَأَتَينَاكَ بِالحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. Wa 'Ataynaka Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Inna Laşadiqūna |
| 15:65 | فَأَسرِ بِأَهلِكَ بِقِطْع ٍ مِنَ اللَّيلِ وَاتَّبِع أَدْبَارَهُم وَلاَ يَلتَفِت مِنْكُم أَحَد ٌ وَامضُوا حَيثُ تُؤمَرُونَ "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." Fa'asri Bi'ahlika Biqiţ`in Mina Al-Layli Wa Attabi` 'Adbarahum Wa La Yaltafit Minkum 'Aĥadun Wa Amđū Ĥaythu Tu'umarūna |
| 15:66 | وَقَضَينَا إِلَيهِ ذَلِكَ الأَمرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَاؤُلاَء مَقْطُوع ٌ مُصبِحِينَ And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. Wa Qađayna 'Ilayhi Dhalika Al-'Amra 'Anna Dabira Ha'uula' Maqţū`un Muşbiĥina |
| 15:67 | وَجَاءَ أَهلُ المَدِينَةِ يَستَبْشِرُونَ And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). Wa Ja'a 'Ahlu Al-Madinati Yastabshirūna |
| 15:68 | قَالَ إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء ضَيفِي فَلاَ تَفضَحُونِ [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. Qala 'Inna Ha'uula' Đayfi Fala Tafđaĥūni |
| 15:69 | وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلاَ تُخزُونِ "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." Wa Attaqū Allaha Wa La Tukhzūni |
| 15:70 | قَالُوا أَوَلَم نَنهَكَ عَنِ العَالَمِينَ They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" Qalū 'Awalam Nanhaka `Ani Al-`Ālamina |
| 15:71 | قَالَ هَاؤُلاَء بَنَاتِي إِنكُنْتُم فَاعِلِينَ [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." Qala Ha'uula' Banati 'In Kuntum Fa`ilina |
| 15:72 | لَعَمرُكَ إِنَّهُم لَفِي سَكرَتِهِم يَعمَهُونَ Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. La`amruka 'Innahum Lafi Sakratihim Ya`mahūna |
| 15:73 | فَأَخَذَتهُمُ الصَّيحَةُ مُشرِقِينَ So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Mushriqina |
| 15:74 | فَجَعَلنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمطَرنَا عَلَيهِم حِجَارَة ً مِنسِجِّيل ٍ And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. Faja`alna `Āliyaha Safilaha Wa 'Amţarna `Alayhim Ĥijaratan Min Sijjilin |
| 15:75 | إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَات ٍ لِلمُتَوَسِّمِينَ Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 'Inna Fi Dhalika La'ayatin Lilmutawassimina |
| 15:76 | وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيل ٍ مُقِيم ٍ And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). Wa 'Innaha Labisabilin Muqimin |
| 15:77 | إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَة ً لِلمُؤمِنِينَ Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 'Inna Fi Dhalika La'ayatan Lilmu'uminina |
| 15:78 | وَإِنكَانَ أَصحَابُ الأَيكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). Wa 'In Kana 'Aşĥabu Al-'Aykati Lažalimina |
| 15:79 | فَانْتَقَمنَا مِنهُم وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَام ٍ مُبِين ٍ So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. Fantaqamna Minhum Wa 'Innahuma Labi'imamin Mubinin |
| 15:80 | وَلَقَدكَذَّبَ أَصحَابُ الحِجْرِ المُرسَلِينَ And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. Wa Laqad Kadhdhaba 'Aşĥabu Al-Ĥijri Al-Mursalina |
| 15:81 | وَآتَينَاهُم آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنهَا مُعرِضِينَ And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. Wa 'Ātaynahum 'Āyatina Fakanū `Anha Mu`riđina |
| 15:82 | وَكَانُوا يَنحِتُونَ مِنَ الجِبَالِ بُيُوتا ً آمِنِينَ And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. Wa Kanū Yanĥitūna Mina Al-Jibali Buyūtaan 'Āminina |
| 15:83 | فَأَخَذَتهُمُ الصَّيحَةُ مُصبِحِينَ But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Muşbiĥina |
| 15:84 | فَمَا أَغنَى عَنهُممَا كَانُوا يَكسِبُونَ And all that which they used to earn availed them not. Fama 'Aghná `Anhum Ma Kanū Yaksibūna |
| 15:85 | وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضَ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا إِلاَّ بِالحَقِّ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَة ٌ فَاصفَحِ الصَّفحَ الجَمِيلَ And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW), their faults with gracious forgiveness. [This was before the ordainment of Jihad holy fighting in Allah's Cause]. Wa Ma Khalaqna As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Ma Baynahuma 'Illa Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Inna As-Sa`ata La'atiyatun Faşfaĥi Aş-Şafĥa Al-Jamila |
| 15:86 | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الخَلاَّقُ العَلِيمُ Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Al-Khallaqu Al-`Alimu |
| 15:87 | وَلَقَدآتَينَاكَ سَبْعا ً مِنَ المَثَانِي وَالقُرآنَ العَظِيمَ And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatiha) and the Grand Qur'an. Wa Laqad 'Ātaynaka Sab`aan Mina Al-Mathani Wa Al-Qur'ana Al-`Ažima |
| 15:88 | لاَ تَمُدَّنَّ عَينَيكَ إِلَى مَا مَتَّعنَا بِهِ~ِ أَزوَاجا ً مِنهُم وَلاَ تَحزَن عَلَيهِم وَاخفِض جَنَاحَكَ لِلمُؤمِنِينَ Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). La Tamuddanna `Aynayka 'Ilá Ma Matta`na Bihi 'Azwajaan Minhum Wa La Taĥzan `Alayhim Wa Akhfiđ Janaĥaka Lilmu'uminina |
| 15:89 | وَقُل إِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ المُبِينُ And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." Wa Qul 'Inni 'Ana An-Nadhiru Al-Mubinu |
| 15:90 | كَمَا أَنْزَلنَا عَلَى المُقْتَسِمِينَ As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). Kama 'Anzalna `Alá Al-Muqtasimina |
| 15:91 | الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا القُرآنَ عِضِينَ Who have made the Qur'an into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). Al-Ladhina Ja`alū Al-Qur'ana `Iđina |
| 15:92 | فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسأَلَنَّهُم أَجْمَعِينَ So, by your Lord (O Muhammad SAW), We shall certainly call all of them to account. Fawarabbika Lanas'alannahum 'Ajma`ina |
| 15:93 | عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعمَلُونَ For all that they used to do `Amma Kanū Ya`malūna |
| 15:94 | فَاصدَع بِمَا تُؤمَرُ وَأَعرِض عَنِ المُشرِكِينَ Therefore proclaim openly (Allah's Message Islamic Monotheism) that which you are commanded, and turn away from Al-Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers, etc. - see V.2:105). Faşda` Bima Tu'umaru Wa 'A`riđ `Ani Al-Mushrikina |
| 15:95 | إِنَّا كَفَينَاكَ المُستَهزِئِينَ Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers 'Inna Kafaynaka Al-Mustahzi'ina |
| 15:96 | الَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَها ً آخَرَ فَسَوفَ يَعلَمُونَ Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. Al-Ladhina Yaj`alūna Ma`a Allahi 'Ilahaan 'Ākhara Fasawfa Ya`lamūna |
| 15:97 | وَلَقَدنَعلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. Wa Laqad Na`lamu 'Annaka Yađiqu Şadruka Bima Yaqūlūna |
| 15:98 | فَسَبِّح بِحَمدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنمِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). Fasabbiĥ Biĥamdi Rabbika Wa Kun Mina As-Sajidina |
| 15:99 | وَاعبُدرَبَّكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ اليَقِينُ And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). Wa A`bud Rabbaka Ĥattá Ya'tiyaka Al-Yaqinu |
