37:1 | وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفّا ً By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). Wa Aş-Şaffati Şaffaan |
37:2 | فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرا ً By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way. Falzzajirati Zajraan |
37:3 | فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكرا ً By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Qur'an from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. Falttaliyati Dhikraan |
37:4 | إِنَّ إِلَهَكُم لَوَاحِد ٌ Verily your Ilah (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allah); 'Inna 'Ilahakum Lawaĥidun |
37:5 | رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضِ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا وَرَبُّ المَشَارِقِ Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun's risings. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Rabbu As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Ma Baynahuma Wa Rabbu Al-Mashariqi |
37:6 | إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَة ٍ الكَوَاكِب Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). 'Inna Zayyanna As-Sama'a Ad-Dunya Bizinatin Al-Kawakib |
37:7 | وَحِفظا ً مِنكُلِّ شَيطَان ٍ مَارِد ٍ And to guard against every rebellious devil. Wa Ĥifžaan Min Kulli Shayţanin Maridin |
37:8 | لاَ يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى المَلَإِ الأَعلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنكُلِّ جَانِب ٍ They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. La Yassamma`ūna 'Ilá Al-Mala'i Al-'A`lá Wa Yuqdhafūna Min Kulli Janibin |
37:9 | دُحُورا ً وَلَهُم عَذَاب ٌ وَاصِب ٌ Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. Duĥūraan Wa Lahum `Adhabun Wa Aşibun |
37:10 | إِلاَّ مَن خَطِفَ الخَطْفَةَ فَأَتبَعَه ُُ شِهَاب ٌ ثَاقِبا ٌ Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. 'Illa Man Khaţifa Al-Khaţfata Fa'atba`ahu Shihabun Thaqibaun |
37:11 | فَاستَفتِهِم أَهُم أَشَدُّ خَلقاً أَممَن خَلَقْنَا إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُممِنطِين ٍ لاَزِب ٍ Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. Fastaftihim 'Ahum 'Ashaddu Khalqaan 'Am Man Khalaqna 'Inna Khalaqnahum Min Ţinin Lazibin |
37:12 | بَل عَجِبْتَ وَيَسخَرُونَ Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Qur'an). Bal `Ajibta Wa Yaskharūna |
37:13 | وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لاَ يَذكُرُونَ And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. Wa 'Idha Dhukkirū La Yadhkurūna |
37:14 | وَإِذَا رَأَوا آيَة ً يَستَسخِرُونَ And when they see an Ayah (a sign, a proof, or an evidence) from Allah, they mock at it. Wa 'Idha Ra'aw 'Āyatan Yastaskhirūna |
37:15 | وَقَالُوا إِن هَذَا إِلاَّ سِحر ٌ مُبِين ٌ And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! Wa Qalū 'In Hadha 'Illa Siĥrun Mubinun |
37:16 | أَئِذَا مِتنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? 'A'idha Mitna Wa Kunna Turabaan Wa `Ižamaan 'A'inna Lamab`ūthūna |
37:17 | أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الأَوَّلُونَ "And also our fathers of old?" 'Awa'aba'uuna Al-'Awwalūna |
37:18 | قُل نَعَم وَأَنْتُم دَاخِرُونَ Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Yes, and you shall then be humiliated." Qul Na`am Wa 'Antum Dakhirūna |
37:19 | فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَة ٌ وَاحِدَة ٌ فَإِذَا هُم يَنظُرُونَ It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! Fa'innama Hiya Zajratun Waĥidatun Fa'idha Hum Yanžurūna |
37:20 | وَقَالُوا يَاوَيلَنَا هَذَا يَومُ الدِّينِ They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" Wa Qalū Ya Waylana Hadha Yawmu Ad-Dini |
37:21 | هَذَا يَومُ الفَصلِ الَّذِي كُنتُمبِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." Hadha Yawmu Al-Faşli Al-Ladhi Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna |
37:22 | احشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزوَاجَهُم وَمَا كَانُوا يَعبُدُونَ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. Aĥshurū Al-Ladhina Žalamū Wa 'Azwajahum Wa Ma Kanū Ya`budūna |
37:23 | مِندُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهدُوهُم إِلَى صِرَاطِ الجَحِيمِ "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); Min Dūni Allahi Fahdūhum 'Ilá Şiraţi Al-Jaĥimi |
37:24 | وَقِفُوهُم إِنَّهُممَسئُولُونَ "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. Wa Qifūhum 'Innahum Mas'ūlūna |
37:25 | مَا لَكُم لاَ تَنَاصَرُونَ "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" Ma Lakum La Tanaşarūna |
37:26 | بَل هُمُ اليَومَ مُستَسلِمُونَ Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, Bal Humu Al-Yawma Mustaslimūna |
37:27 | وَأَقْبَلَ بَعضُهُم عَلَى بَعض ٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ And they will turn to one another and question one another. Wa 'Aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasa'alūna |
37:28 | قَالُوا إِنَّكُم كُنتُم تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ اليَمِينِ They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." Qalū 'Innakum Kuntum Ta'tūnana `Ani Al-Yamini |
37:29 | قَالُوا بَللَم تَكُونُوا مُؤمِنِينَ They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. Qalū Bal Lam Takūnū Mu'uminina |
37:30 | وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيكُممِنسُلطَان ٍ بَل كُنتُم قَوما ً طَاغِينَ "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). Wa Ma Kana Lana `Alaykum Min Sulţanin Bal Kuntum Qawmaan Ţaghina |
37:31 | فَحَقَّ عَلَينَا قَولُ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). Faĥaqqa `Alayna Qawlu Rabbina 'Inna Ladha'iqūna |
37:32 | فَأَغوَينَاكُم إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." Fa'aghwaynakum 'Inna Kunna Ghawina |
37:33 | فَإِنَّهُم يَومَئِذ ٍ فِي العَذَابِ مُشتَرِكُونَ Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. Fa'innahum Yawma'idhin Fi Al-`Adhabi Mushtarikūna |
37:34 | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَفعَلُ بِالمُجْرِمِينَ Certainly, that is how We deal with AlMujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 'Inna Kadhalika Naf`alu Bil-Mujrimina |
37:35 | إِنَّهُم كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم لاَ إِلَهَ~َ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ يَستَكبِرُونَ Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 'Innahum Kanū 'Idha Qila Lahum La 'Ilaha 'Illa Allahu Yastakbirūna |
37:36 | وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوا آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِر ٍ مَجْنُون ٍ And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? Wa Yaqūlūna 'A'inna Latarikū 'Ālihatina Lisha`irin Majnūnin |
37:37 | بَل جَاءَ بِالحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ المُرسَلِينَ Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Qur'an) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). Bal Ja'a Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Şaddaqa Al-Mursalina |
37:38 | إِنَّكُم لَذَائِقُو العَذَابِ الأَلِيمِ Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 'Innakum Ladha'iqū Al-`Adhabi Al-'Alimi |
37:39 | وَمَا تُجْزَونَ إِلاَّ مَا كُنتُم تَعمَلُونَ And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); Wa Ma Tujzawna 'Illa Ma Kuntum Ta`malūna |
37:40 | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصِينَ Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 'Illa `Ibada Allahi Al-Mukhlaşina |
37:41 | أُولَائِكَ لَهُم رِزق ٌ مَعلُوم ٌ For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 'Ūla'ika Lahum Rizqun Ma`lūmun |
37:42 | فَوَاكِه ُُ وَهُممُكرَمُونَ Fruits; and they shall be honoured, Fawakihu Wa Hum Mukramūna |
37:43 | فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), Fi Jannati An-Na`imi |
37:44 | عَلَى سُرُر ٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ Facing one another on thrones, `Alá Sururin Mutaqabilina |
37:45 | يُطَافُ عَلَيهِمبِكَأْس ٍ مِنمَعِين ٍ Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; Yuţafu `Alayhim Bika'sin Min Ma`inin |
37:46 | بَيضَاءَ لَذَّة ٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ White, delicious to the drinkers, Bayđa'a Ladhdhatin Lilshsharibina |
37:47 | لاَ فِيهَا غَول ٌ وَلاَ هُم عَنهَا يُنزَفُونَ Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. La Fiha Ghawlun Wa La Hum `Anha Yunzafūna |
37:48 | وَعِنْدَهُم قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرفِ عِين ٌ And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. Wa `Indahum Qaşiratu Aţ-Ţarfi `Īnun |
37:49 | كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيض ٌ مَكنُون ٌ (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. Ka'annahunna Bayđun Maknūnun |
37:50 | فَأَقْبَلَ بَعضُهُم عَلَى بَعض ٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatasa'alūna |
37:51 | قَالَ قَائِل ٌ مِنهُم إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِين ٌ A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), Qala Qa'ilun Minhum 'Inni Kana Li Qarinun |
37:52 | يَقُولُ أَئِنَّكَ لَمِنَ المُصَدِّقِينَ Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). Yaqūlu 'A'innaka Lamina Al-Muşaddiqina |
37:53 | أَئِذَا مِتنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 'A'idha Mitna Wa Kunna Turabaan Wa `Ižamaan 'A'inna Lamadinūna |
37:54 | قَالَ هَل أَنْتُممُطَّلِعُونَ (The man) said: "Will you look down?" Qala Hal 'Antum Muţţali`ūna |
37:55 | فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. Faţţala`a Fara'ahu Fi Sawa'i Al-Jaĥimi |
37:56 | قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنكِدْتَ لَتُردِينِ He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. Qala Ta-Allahi 'In Kidta Laturdini |
37:57 | وَلَولاَ نِعمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ المُحضَرِينَ "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." Wa Lawla Ni`matu Rabbi Lakuntu Mina Al-Muĥđarina |
37:58 | أَفَمَا نَحنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 'Afama Naĥnu Bimayyitina |
37:59 | إِلاَّ مَوتَتَنَا الأُولَى وَمَا نَحنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 'Illa Mawtatana Al-'Ūlá Wa Ma Naĥnu Bimu`adhdhabina |
37:60 | إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الفَوزُ العَظِيمُ Truly, this is the supreme success! 'Inna Hadha Lahuwa Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažimu |
37:61 | لِمِثلِ هَذَا فَليَعمَلِ العَامِلُونَ For the like of this let the workers work. Limithli Hadha Falya`mali Al-`Āmilūna |
37:62 | أَذَلِكَ خَير ٌ نُزُلاً أَم شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 'Adhalika Khayrun Nuzulaan 'Am Shajaratu Az-Zaqqūmi |
37:63 | إِنَّا جَعَلنَاهَا فِتنَة ً لِلظَّالِمِينَ Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 'Inna Ja`alnaha Fitnatan Lilžžalimina |
37:64 | إِنَّهَا شَجَرَة ٌ تَخرُجُ فِي أَصلِ الجَحِيمِ Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 'Innaha Shajaratun Takhruju Fi 'Aşli Al-Jaĥimi |
37:65 | طَلعُهَا كَأَنَّه ُُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); Ţal`uha Ka'annahu Ru'ūsu Ash-Shayaţini |
37:66 | فَإِنَّهُم لَآكِلُونَ مِنهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنهَا البُطُونَ Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. Fa'innahum La'akilūna Minha Famali'ūna Minha Al-Buţūna |
37:67 | ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُم عَلَيهَا لَشَوبا ً مِن حَمِيم ٍ Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). Thumma 'Inna Lahum `Alayha Lashawbaan Min Ĥamimin |
37:68 | ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرجِعَهُم لَإِلَى الجَحِيمِ Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. Thumma 'Inna Marji`ahum La'ilá Al-Jaĥimi |
37:69 | إِنَّهُم أَلفَوا آبَاءَهُم ضَالِّينَ Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 'Innahum 'Alfaw 'Āba'ahum Đallina |
37:70 | فَهُم عَلَى آثَارِهِم يُهرَعُونَ So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! Fahum `Alá 'Ātharihim Yuhra`ūna |
37:71 | وَلَقَدضَلَّ قَبْلَهُم أَكثَرُ الأَوَّلِينَ And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; Wa Laqad Đalla Qablahum 'Aktharu Al-'Awwalina |
37:72 | وَلَقَدأَرسَلنَا فِيهِممُنذِرِينَ And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); Wa Laqad 'Arsalna Fihim Mundhirina |
37:73 | فَانظُر كَيفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ المُنذَرِينَ Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). Fanžur Kayfa Kana `Āqibatu Al-Mundharina |
37:74 | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصِينَ Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 'Illa `Ibada Allahi Al-Mukhlaşina |
37:75 | وَلَقَدنَادَانَا نُوح ٌ فَلَنِعمَ المُجِيبُونَ And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). Wa Laqad Nadana Nūĥun Falani`ma Al-Mujibūna |
37:76 | وَنَجَّينَاه ُُ وَأَهلَه ُُ مِنَ الكَربِ العَظِيمِ And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), Wa Najjaynahu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažimi |
37:77 | وَجَعَلنَا ذُرِّيَّتَه ُُ هُمُ البَاقِينَ And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). Wa Ja`alna Dhurriyatahu Humu Al-Baqina |
37:78 | وَتَرَكنَا عَلَيهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: Wa Tarakna `Alayhi Fi Al-'Ākhirina |
37:79 | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى نُوح ٍ فِي العَالَمِينَ Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" Salamun `Alá Nūĥin Fi Al-`Ālamina |
37:80 | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي المُحسِنِينَ Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). 'Inna Kadhalika Najzi Al-Muĥsinina |
37:81 | إِنَّه ُُ مِن عِبَادِنَا المُؤمِنِينَ Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 'Innahu Min `Ibadina Al-Mu'uminina |
37:82 | ثُمَّ أَغرَقْنَا الآخَرِينَ Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). Thumma 'Aghraqna Al-'Ākharina |
37:83 | وَإِنَّ مِنشِيعَتِه ِِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ And, verily, among those who followed his [Nuh's (Noah)] way (Islamic Monotheism) was Ibrahim (Abraham). Wa 'Inna Min Shi`atihi La'ibrahima |
37:84 | إِذ جَاءَ رَبَّه ُُ بِقَلب ٍ سَلِيم ٍ When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allah Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allah Alone true Islamic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism]. 'Idh Ja'a Rabbahu Biqalbin Salimin |
37:85 | إِذ قَالَ لِأَبِيه ِِ وَقَومِه ِِ مَاذَا تَعبُدُونَ When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship? 'Idh Qala Li'abihi Wa Qawmihi Madha Ta`budūna |
37:86 | أَئِفكا ً آلِهَة ً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ "Is it a falsehood aliha (gods) other than Allah that you seek? 'A'ifkaan 'Ālihatan Dūna Allahi Turidūna |
37:87 | فَمَا ظَنُّكُمبِرَبِّ العَالَمِينَ "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" Fama Žannukum Birabbi Al-`Ālamina |
37:88 | فَنَظَرَ نَظرَة ً فِي النُّجُومِ Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them), Fanažara Nažratan Fi An-Nujūmi |
37:89 | فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيم ٌ And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)." Faqala 'Inni Saqimun |
37:90 | فَتَوَلَّوا عَنهُ مُدْبِرِينَ So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). Fatawallaw `Anhu Mudbirina |
37:91 | فَرَاغَ إِلَى آلِهَتِهِم فَقَالَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ Then he turned to their aliha (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)? Faragha 'Ilá 'Ālihatihim Faqala 'Ala Ta'kulūna |
37:92 | مَا لَكُم لاَ تَنطِقُونَ "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" Ma Lakum La Tanţiqūna |
37:93 | فَرَاغَ عَلَيهِم ضَربا ً بِاليَمِينِ Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. Faragha `Alayhim Đarbaan Bil-Yamini |
37:94 | فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيهِ يَزِفُّونَ Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening. Fa'aqbalū 'Ilayhi Yaziffūna |
37:95 | قَالَ أَتَعبُدُونَ مَا تَنحِتُونَ He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? Qala 'Ata`budūna Ma Tanĥitūna |
37:96 | وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُم وَمَا تَعمَلُونَ "While Allah has created you and what you make!" Wa Allahu Khalaqakum Wa Ma Ta`malūna |
37:97 | قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَه ُُ بُنْيَانا ً فَأَلقُوه ُُ فِي الجَحِيمِ They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" Qalū Abnū Lahu Bunyanaan Fa'alqūhu Fi Al-Jaĥimi |
37:98 | فَأَرَادُوا بِه ِِ كَيدا ً فَجَعَلنَاهُمُ الأَسفَلِينَ So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. Fa'aradū Bihi Kaydaan Faja`alnahumu Al-'Asfalina |
37:99 | وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِب ٌ إِلَى رَبِّي سَيَهدِينِ And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" Wa Qala 'Inni Dhahibun 'Ilá Rabbi Sayahdini |
37:100 | رَبِّ هَبلِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." Rabbi Hab Li Mina Aş-Şaliĥina |
37:101 | فَبَشَّرنَاه ُُ بِغُلاَمٍ حَلِيم ٍ So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. Fabashsharnahu Bighulamin Ĥalimin |
37:102 | فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعيَ قَالَ يَابُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي المَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذبَحُكَ فَانظُر مَاذَا تَرَى قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افعَل مَا تُؤمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنشَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." Falamma Balagha Ma`ahu As-Sa`ya Qala Ya Bunayya 'Inni 'Ará Fi Al-Manami 'Anni 'Adhbaĥuka Fanžur Madha Tará Qala Ya 'Abati Af`al Ma Tu'umaru Satajiduni 'In Sha'a Allahu Mina Aş-Şabirina |
37:103 | فَلَمَّا أَسلَمَا وَتَلَّه ُُ لِلجَبِينِ Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); Falamma 'Aslama Wa Tallahu Liljabini |
37:104 | وَنَادَينَاهُ~ُ أَنيَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ And We called out to him: "O Abraham! Wa Nadaynahu 'An Ya 'Ibrahimu |
37:105 | قَد صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤيَا إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي المُحسِنِينَ You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). Qad Şaddaqta Ar-Ru'uya 'Inna Kadhalika Najzi Al-Muĥsinina |
37:106 | إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ البَلاَءُ المُبِينُ Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial 'Inna Hadha Lahuwa Al-Bala'u Al-Mubinu |
37:107 | وَفَدَينَاه ُُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيم ٍ And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. - a ram); Wa Fadaynahu Bidhibĥin `Ažimin |
37:108 | وَتَرَكنَا عَلَيهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. Wa Tarakna `Alayhi Fi Al-'Ākhirina |
37:109 | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" Salamun `Alá 'Ibrahima |
37:110 | كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي المُحسِنِينَ Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). Kadhalika Najzi Al-Muĥsinina |
37:111 | إِنَّه ُُ مِن عِبَادِنَا المُؤمِنِينَ Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 'Innahu Min `Ibadina Al-Mu'uminina |
37:112 | وَبَشَّرنَاه ُُ بِإِسحَاقَ نَبِيّا ً مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous. Wa Bashsharnahu Bi'isĥaqa Nabiyaan Mina Aş-Şaliĥina |
37:113 | وَبَارَكنَا عَلَيهِ وَعَلَى إِسحَاقَ وَمِنذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحسِن ٌ وَظَالِم ٌ لِنَفسِه ِِ مُبِين ٌ We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. Wa Barakna `Alayhi Wa `Alá 'Isĥaqa Wa Min Dhurriyatihima Muĥsinun Wa Žalimun Linafsihi Mubinun |
37:114 | وَلَقَدمَنَنَّا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron). Wa Laqad Mananna `Alá Mūsá Wa Harūna |
37:115 | وَنَجَّينَاهُمَا وَقَومَهُمَا مِنَ الكَربِ العَظِيمِ And We saved them and their people from the great distress; Wa Najjaynahuma Wa Qawmahuma Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažimi |
37:116 | وَنَصَرنَاهُم فَكَانُوا هُمُ الغَالِبِينَ And helped them, so that they became the victors; Wa Naşarnahum Fakanū Humu Al-Ghalibina |
37:117 | وَآتَينَاهُمَا الكِتَابَ المُستَبِينَ And We gave them the clear Scripture; Wa 'Ātaynahuma Al-Kitaba Al-Mustabina |
37:118 | وَهَدَينَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ المُستَقِيمَ And guided them to the Right Path; Wa Hadaynahuma Aş-Şiraţa Al-Mustaqima |
37:119 | وَتَرَكنَا عَلَيهِمَا فِي الآخِرِينَ And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; Wa Tarakna `Alayhima Fi Al-'Ākhirina |
37:120 | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ Salamun (peace) be upon Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)!" Salamun `Alá Mūsá Wa Harūna |
37:121 | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي المُحسِنِينَ Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). 'Inna Kadhalika Najzi Al-Muĥsinina |
37:122 | إِنَّهُمَا مِن عِبَادِنَا المُؤمِنِينَ Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves. 'Innahuma Min `Ibadina Al-Mu'uminina |
37:123 | وَإِنَّ إِليَاسَ لَمِنَ المُرسَلِينَ And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers. Wa 'Inna 'Ilyasa Lamina Al-Mursalina |
37:124 | إِذ قَالَ لِقَومِهِ~ِ أَلاَ تَتَّقُونَ When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allah? 'Idh Qala Liqawmihi 'Ala Tattaqūna |
37:125 | أَتَدْعُونَ بَعلا ً وَتَذَرُونَ أَحسَنَ الخَالِقِينَ "Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators, 'Atad`ūna Ba`laan Wa Tadharūna 'Aĥsana Al-Khaliqina |
37:126 | اللَّهَ رَبَّكُم وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ "Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?" Allaha Rabbakum Wa Rabba 'Āba'ikumu Al-'Awwalina |
37:127 | فَكَذَّبُوه ُُ فَإِنَّهُم لَمُحضَرُونَ But they denied him [Iliyas (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment), Fakadhdhabūhu Fa'innahum Lamuĥđarūna |
37:128 | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصِينَ Except the chosen slaves of Allah. 'Illa `Ibada Allahi Al-Mukhlaşina |
37:129 | وَتَرَكنَا عَلَيهِ فِي الآخِرِينَ And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; Wa Tarakna `Alayhi Fi Al-'Ākhirina |
37:130 | سَلاَمٌ عَلَى إِل يَا-سِين Salamun (peace) be upon Ilyasin (Elias)!" Salamun `Alá 'Il Ya -Sin |
37:131 | إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي المُحسِنِينَ Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allah's sake only - see V.2:112). 'Inna Kadhalika Najzi Al-Muĥsinina |
37:132 | إِنَّه ُُ مِن عِبَادِنَا المُؤمِنِينَ Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 'Innahu Min `Ibadina Al-Mu'uminina |
37:133 | وَإِنَّ لُوطا ً لَمِنَ المُرسَلِينَ And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers. Wa 'Inna Lūţaan Lamina Al-Mursalina |
37:134 | إِذ نَجَّينَاه ُُ وَأَهلَهُ~ُ أَجْمَعِينَ When We saved him and his family, all, 'Idh Najjaynahu Wa 'Ahlahu 'Ajma`ina |
37:135 | إِلاَّ عَجُوزا ً فِي الغَابِرِينَ Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind. 'Illa `Ajūzaan Fi Al-Ghabirina |
37:136 | ثُمَّ دَمَّرنَا الآخَرِينَ Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. Thumma Dammarna Al-'Ākharina |
37:137 | وَإِنَّكُم لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيهِممُصبِحِينَ Verily, you pass by them in the morning. Wa 'Innakum Latamurrūna `Alayhim Muşbiĥina |
37:138 | وَبِاللَّيلِ أَفَلاَ تَعقِلُونَ And at night; will you not then reflect? Wa Bil-Layli 'Afala Ta`qilūna |
37:139 | وَإِنَّ يُونِس لَمِنَ المُرسَلِينَ And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. Wa 'Inna Yūnis Lamina Al-Mursalina |
37:140 | إِذ أَبَقَ إِلَى الفُلكِ المَشحُونِ When he ran to the laden ship, 'Idh 'Abaqa 'Ilá Al-Fulki Al-Mashĥūni |
37:141 | فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ المُدْحَضِينَ He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, Fasahama Fakana Mina Al-Mudĥađina |
37:142 | فَالتَقَمَهُ الحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيم ٌ Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. Faltaqamahu Al-Ĥūtu Wa Huwa Mulimun |
37:143 | فَلَولاَ أَنَّه ُُ كَانَ مِنَ المُسَبِّحِينَ Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, Falawla 'Annahu Kana Mina Al-Musabbiĥina |
37:144 | لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ~ِ إِلَى يَومِ يُبْعَثُونَ He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. Lalabitha Fi Baţnihi 'Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna |
37:145 | فَنَبَذنَاه ُُ بِالعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيم ٌ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, Fanabadhnahu Bil-`Ara'i Wa Huwa Saqimun |
37:146 | وَأَنْبَتنَا عَلَيهِ شَجَرَة ً مِنيَقْطِين ٍ And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. Wa 'Anbatna `Alayhi Shajaratan Min Yaqţinin |
37:147 | وَأَرسَلنَاهُ~ُ إِلَى مِائَةِ أَلفٍ أَو يَزِيدُونَ And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. Wa 'Arsalnahu 'Ilá Mia'ati 'Alfin 'Aw Yazidūna |
37:148 | فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعنَاهُم إِلَى حِين ٍ And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. Fa'amanū Famatta`nahum 'Ilá Ĥinin |
37:149 | فَاستَفتِهِم أَلِرَبِّكَ البَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ البَنُونَ Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" Fastaftihim 'Alirabbika Al-Banatu Wa Lahumu Al-Banūna |
37:150 | أَم خَلَقْنَا المَلاَئِكَةَ إِنَاثا ً وَهُم شَاهِدُونَ Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 'Am Khalaqna Al-Mala'ikata 'Inathaan Wa Hum Shahidūna |
37:151 | أَلاَ إِنَّهُممِنإِفكِهِم لَيَقُولُونَ Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 'Ala 'Innahum Min 'Ifkihim Layaqūlūna |
37:152 | وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُم لَكَاذِبُونَ "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! Walada Allahu Wa 'Innahum Lakadhibūna |
37:153 | أَاصطَفَى البَنَاتِ عَلَى البَنِينَ Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 'Āşţafá Al-Banati `Alá Al-Banina |
37:154 | مَا لَكُم كَيفَ تَحكُمُونَ What is the matter with you? How do you decide? Ma Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna |
37:155 | أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُون Will you not then remember? 'Afala Tadhakkarūn |
37:156 | أَم لَكُم سُلطَان ٌ مُبِين ٌ Or is there for you a plain authority? 'Am Lakum Sulţanun Mubinun |
37:157 | فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُم إِنكُنتُم صَادِقِينَ Then bring your Book if you are truthful! Fa'tū Bikitabikum 'In Kuntum Şadiqina |
37:158 | وَجَعَلُوا بَينَه ُُ وَبَينَ الجِنَّةِ نَسَبا ً وَلَقَدعَلِمَتِ الجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُم لَمُحضَرُونَ And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). Wa Ja`alū Baynahu Wa Bayna Al-Jinnati Nasabaan Wa Laqad `Alimati Al-Jinnatu 'Innahum Lamuĥđarūna |
37:159 | سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! Subĥana Allahi `Amma Yaşifūna |
37:160 | إِلاَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصِينَ Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 'Illa `Ibada Allahi Al-Mukhlaşina |
37:161 | فَإِنَّكُم وَمَا تَعبُدُونَ So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). Fa'innakum Wa Ma Ta`budūna |
37:162 | مَا أَنْتُم عَلَيهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], Ma 'Antum `Alayhi Bifatinina |
37:163 | إِلاَّ مَن هُوَ صَالِي الجَحِيمِ Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! 'Illa Man Huwa Şali Al-Jaĥimi |
37:164 | وَمَا مِنَّا إِلاَّ لَه ُُ مَقَام ٌ مَعلُوم ٌ There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); Wa Ma Minna 'Illa Lahu Maqamun Ma`lūmun |
37:165 | وَإِنَّا لَنَحنُ الصَّافُّونَ Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); Wa 'Inna Lanaĥnu Aş-Şaffūna |
37:166 | وَإِنَّا لَنَحنُ المُسَبِّحُونَ Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). Wa 'Inna Lanaĥnu Al-Musabbiĥūna |
37:167 | وَإِنكَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; Wa 'In Kanū Layaqūlūna |
37:168 | لَو أَنَّ عِنْدَنَا ذِكرا ً مِنَ الأَوَّلِينَ "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). Law 'Anna `Indana Dhikraan Mina Al-'Awwalina |
37:169 | لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصِينَ "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" Lakunna `Ibada Allahi Al-Mukhlaşina |
37:170 | فَكَفَرُوا بِه ِِ فَسَوفَ يَعلَمُونَ But (now that the Qur'an has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Qur'an and in Prophet Muhammad SAW , and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! Fakafarū Bihi Fasawfa Ya`lamūna |
37:171 | وَلَقَدسَبَقَت كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا المُرسَلِين And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, Wa Laqad Sabaqat Kalimatuna Li`ibadina Al-Mursalin |
37:172 | إِنَّهُم لَهُمُ المَنصُورُونَ That they verily would be made triumphant. 'Innahum Lahumu Al-Manşūrūna |
37:173 | وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الغَالِبُونَ And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. Wa 'Inna Jundana Lahumu Al-Ghalibūna |
37:174 | فَتَوَلَّ عَنهُم حَتَّى حِين ٍ So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, Fatawalla `Anhum Ĥattá Ĥinin |
37:175 | وَأَبْصِرهُم فَسَوفَ يُبْصِرُونَ And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! Wa 'Abşirhum Fasawfa Yubşirūna |
37:176 | أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَستَعجِلُونَ Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 'Afabi`adhabina Yasta`jilūna |
37:177 | فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِم فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ المُنذَرِينَ Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! Fa'idha Nazala Bisaĥatihim Fasa'a Şabaĥu Al-Mundharina |
37:178 | وَتَوَلَّ عَنهُم حَتَّى حِين ٍ So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, Wa Tawalla `Anhum Ĥattá Ĥinin |
37:179 | وَأَبْصِر فَسَوفَ يُبْصِرُونَ And watch and they shall see (the torment)! Wa 'Abşir Fasawfa Yubşirūna |
37:180 | سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ العِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! Subĥana Rabbika Rabbi Al-`Izzati `Amma Yaşifūna |
37:181 | وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَى المُرسَلِينَ And peace be on the Messengers! Wa Salamun `Alá Al-Mursalina |
37:182 | وَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). Wa Al-Ĥamdu Lillahi Rabbi Al-`Ālamina |
