| 68:1 | نُون وَالقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسطُرُونَ Nun. [These letters (Nun, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the pen and what the (angels) write (in the Records of men). Nūn Wa Al-Qalami Wa Ma Yasţurūna |
| 68:2 | مَا أَنْتَ بِنِعمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُون ٍ You (O Muhammad SAW) are not, by the Grace of your Lord, a madman. Ma 'Anta Bini`mati Rabbika Bimajnūnin |
| 68:3 | وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْراً غَيرَ مَمنُون ٍ And verily, for you (O Muhammad SAW) will be an endless reward. Wa 'Inna Laka La'ajraan Ghayra Mamnūnin |
| 68:4 | وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيم ٍ And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character. Wa 'Innaka La`alá Khuluqin `Ažimin |
| 68:5 | فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ You will see, and they will see, Fasatubşiru Wa Yubşirūna |
| 68:6 | بِأَيّيِكُمُ المَفتُونُ Which of you is afflicted with madness. Bi'ayyyikumu Al-Maftūnu |
| 68:7 | إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعلَمُ بِمَنضَلَّ عَنسَبِيلِه ِِ وَهُوَ أَعلَمُ بِالمُهتَدِينَ Verily, your Lord knows better, who (among men) has gone astray from His Path, and He knows better those who are guided. 'Inna Rabbaka Huwa 'A`lamu Biman Đalla `An Sabilihi Wa Huwa 'A`lamu Bil-Muhtadina |
| 68:8 | فَلاَ تُطِعِ المُكَذِّبِينَ So (O Muhammad SAW) obey not the deniers [(of Islamic Monotheism those who belie the Verses of Allah), the Oneness of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW), etc.] Fala Tuţi`i Al-Mukadhdhibina |
| 68:9 | وَدُّوا لَو تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them, so they (too) would compromise with you. Wa Ddū Law Tud/hinu Fayud/hinūna |
| 68:10 | وَلاَ تُطِع كُلَّ حَلاَّف ٍ مَهِين ٍ And obey not everyone who swears much, and is considered worthless, Wa La Tuţi` Kulla Ĥallafin Mahinin |
| 68:11 | هَمَّاز ٍ مَشَّاء ٍ بِنَمِيم ٍ A slanderer, going about with calumnies, Hammazin Mashsha'in Binamimin |
| 68:12 | مَنَّاع ٍ لِلخَيرِ مُعتَدٍ أَثِيم ٍ Hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful, Manna`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin 'Athimin |
| 68:13 | عُتُلّ ٍ بَعدَ ذَلِكَ زَنِيم ٍ Cruel, after all that base-born (of illegitimate birth), `Utullin Ba`da Dhalika Zanimin |
| 68:14 | أَنكَانَ ذَا مَال ٍ وَبَنِينَ (He was so) because he had wealth and children. 'An Kana Dha Malin Wa Banina |
| 68:15 | إِذَا تُتلَى عَلَيهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ When Our Verses (of the Qur'an) are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the men of old!" 'Idha Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyatuna Qala 'Asaţiru Al-'Awwalina |
| 68:16 | سَنَسِمُه ُُ عَلَى الخُرطُومِ We shall brand him over the nose! Sanasimuhu `Alá Al-Khurţūmi |
| 68:17 | إِنَّا بَلَونَاهُم كَمَا بَلَونَا أَصحَابَ الجَنَّةِ إِذ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصرِمُنَّهَا مُصبِحِينَ Verily, We have tried them as We tried the people of the garden, when they swore to pluck the fruits of the (garden) in the morning, 'Inna Balawnahum Kama Balawna 'Aşĥaba Al-Jannati 'Idh 'Aqsamū Layaşrimunnaha Muşbiĥina |
| 68:18 | وَلاَ يَستَثنُونَ Without saying: Insha' Allah (If Allah will). Wa La Yastathnūna |
| 68:19 | فَطَافَ عَلَيهَا طَائِف ٌ مِنرَبِّكَ وَهُم نَائِمُونَ Then there passed by on the (garden) something (fire) from your Lord at night and burnt it while they were asleep. Faţafa `Alayha Ţa'ifun Min Rabbika Wa Hum Na'imūna |
| 68:20 | فَأَصبَحَت كَالصَّرِيمِ So the (garden) became black by the morning, like a pitch dark night (in complete ruins). Fa'aşbaĥat Kalşşarimi |
| 68:21 | فَتَنَادَوا مُصبِحِينَ Then they called out one to another as soon as the morning broke, Fatanadaw Muşbiĥina |
| 68:22 | أَنِ اغدُوا عَلَى حَرثِكُم إِنكُنتُم صَارِمِينَ Saying: "Go to your tilth in the morning, if you would pluck the fruits." 'Ani Aghdū `Alá Ĥarthikum 'In Kuntum Şarimina |
| 68:23 | فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُم يَتَخَافَتُونَ So they departed, conversing in secret low tones (saying), Fanţalaqū Wa Hum Yatakhafatūna |
| 68:24 | أَنلاَ يَدْخُلَنَّهَا اليَومَ عَلَيكُممِسكِين ٌ No Miskin (poor man) shall enter upon you into it today. 'An La Yadkhulannaha Al-Yawma `Alaykum Miskinun |
| 68:25 | وَغَدَوا عَلَى حَرد ٍ قَادِرِينَ And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom). Waghadaw `Alá Ĥardin Qadirina |
| 68:26 | فَلَمَّا رَأَوهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ But when they saw the (garden), they said: "Verily, we have gone astray," Falamma Ra'awha Qalū 'Inna Lađallūna |
| 68:27 | بَل نَحنُ مَحرُومُونَ (Then they said): "Nay! Indeed we are deprived of (the fruits)!" Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna |
| 68:28 | قَالَ أَوسَطُهُم أَلَم أَقُللَكُم لَولاَ تُسَبِّحُونَ The best among them said: "Did I not tell you: why do you not say: Insha' Allah (If Allah will)." Qala 'Awsaţuhum 'Alam 'Aqul Lakum Lawla Tusabbiĥūna |
| 68:29 | قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ They said: "Glory to Our Lord! Verily, we have been Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.)." Qalū Subĥana Rabbina 'Inna Kunna Žalimina |
| 68:30 | فَأَقْبَلَ بَعضُهُم عَلَى بَعض ٍ يَتَلاَوَمُونَ Then they turned, one against another, in blaming. Fa'aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatalawamūna |
| 68:31 | قَالُوا يَا وَيلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ They said: "Woe to us! Verily, we were Taghun (transgressors and disobedient, etc.) Qalū Ya Waylana 'Inna Kunna Ţaghina |
| 68:32 | عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَنيُبْدِلَنَا خَيرا ً مِنهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins, and reward us in the Hereafter)." `Asá Rabbuna 'An Yubdilana Khayraan Minha 'Inna 'Ilá Rabbina Raghibūna |
| 68:33 | كَذَلِكَ العَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الآخِرَةِ أَكبَرُ لَو كَانُوا يَعلَمُونَ Such is the punishment (in this life), but truly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew. Kadhalika Al-`Adhabu Wa La`adhabu Al-'Ākhirati 'Akbaru Law Kanū Ya`lamūna |
| 68:34 | إِنَّ لِلمُتَّقِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِم جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ Verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) are Gardens of delight (Paradise) with their Lord. 'Inna Lilmuttaqina `Inda Rabbihim Jannati An-Na`imi |
| 68:35 | أَفَنَجْعَلُ المُسلِمِينَ كَالمُجْرِمِينَ Shall We then treat the (submitting) Muslims like the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists and disbelievers, etc.)? 'Afanaj`alu Al-Muslimina Kalmujrimina |
| 68:36 | مَا لَكُم كَيفَ تَحكُمُونَ What is the matter with you? How judge you? Ma Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna |
| 68:37 | أَم لَكُم كِتَاب ٌ فِيه ِِ تَدْرُسُونَ Or have you a Book through which you learn. 'Am Lakum Kitabun Fihi Tadrusūna |
| 68:38 | إِنَّ لَكُم فِيه ِِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ That you shall have all that you choose? 'Inna Lakum Fihi Lama Takhayyarūna |
| 68:39 | أَم لَكُم أَيمَانٌ عَلَينَا بَالِغَة ٌ إِلَى يَومِ القِيَامَةِ إِنَّ لَكُم لَمَا تَحكُمُونَ Or you have oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection that yours will be what you judge. 'Am Lakum 'Aymanun `Alayna Balighatun 'Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyamati 'Inna Lakum Lama Taĥkumūna |
| 68:40 | سَلهُم أَيُّهُمبِذَلِكَ زَعِيم ٌ Ask them, which of them will stand surety for that! Salhum 'Ayyuhum Bidhalika Za`imun |
| 68:41 | أَم لَهُم شُرَكَاءُ فَليَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِم إِنكَانُوا صَادِقِينَ Or have they "partners"? Then let them bring their "partners" if they are truthful! 'Am Lahum Shuraka'u Falya'tū Bishuraka'ihim 'In Kanū Şadiqina |
| 68:42 | يَومَ يُكشَفُ عَنسَاق ٍ وَيُدْعَونَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلاَ يَستَطِيعُونَ (Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate (to Allah), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so, Yawma Yukshafu `An Saqin Wa Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Fala Yastaţi`ūna |
| 68:43 | خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُم تَرهَقُهُم ذِلَّة ٌ وَقَدكَانُوا يُدْعَونَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُم سَالِمُونَ Their eyes will be cast down, ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not). Khashi`atan 'Abşaruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun Wa Qad Kanū Yud`awna 'Ilá As-Sujūdi Wa Hum Salimūna |
| 68:44 | فَذَرنِي وَمَنيُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الحَدِيثِ سَنَستَدْرِجُهُممِن حَيثُ لاَ يَعلَمُونَ Then leave Me Alone with such as belie this Qur'an. We shall punish them gradually from directions they perceive not. Fadharni Wa Man Yukadhdhibu Bihadha Al-Ĥadithi Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu La Ya`lamūna |
| 68:45 | وَأُملِي لَهُم إِنَّ كَيدِي مَتِين ٌ And I will grant them a respite. Verily, My Plan is strong. Wa 'Umli Lahum 'Inna Kaydi Matinun |
| 68:46 | أَم تَسأَلُهُم أَجْرا ً فَهُممِنمَغرَم ٍ مُثقَلُونَ Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them a wage, so that they are heavily burdened with debt? 'Am Tas'aluhum 'Ajraan Fahum Min Maghramin Muthqalūna |
| 68:47 | أَم عِنْدَهُمُ الغَيبُ فَهُم يَكتُبُونَ Or that the Ghaib (unseen here in this Verse it means Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz) is in their hands, so that they can write it down? 'Am `Indahumu Al-Ghaybu Fahum Yaktubūna |
| 68:48 | فَاصبِر لِحُكمِ رَبِّكَ وَلاَ تَكُنكَصَاحِبِ الحُوتِ إِذ نَادَى وَهُوَ مَكظُوم ٌ So wait with patience for the Decision of your Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish, when he cried out (to Us) while he was in deep sorrow. (See the Qur'an, Verse 21:87). Faşbir Liĥukmi Rabbika Wa La Takun Kaşaĥibi Al-Ĥūti 'Idh Nadá Wa Huwa Makžūmun |
| 68:49 | لَولاَ أَنتَدَارَكَه ُُ نِعمَة ٌ مِنرَبِّه ِِ لَنُبِذَ بِالعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذمُوم ٌ Had not a Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been (left in the stomach of the fish, but We forgave him), so he was cast off on the naked shore, while he was to be blamed. Lawla 'An Tadarakahu Ni`matun Min Rabbihi Lanubidha Bil-`Ara'i Wa Huwa Madhmūmun |
| 68:50 | فَاجْتَبَاه ُُ رَبُّه ُُ فَجَعَلَه ُُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ But his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous. Fajtabahu Rabbuhu Faja`alahu Mina Aş-Şaliĥina |
| 68:51 | وَإِنيَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِم لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّه ُُ لَمَجْنُون ٌ And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes through hatredness when they hear the Reminder (the Qur'an), and they say: "Verily, he (Muhammad SAW) is a madman!" Wa 'In Yakadu Al-Ladhina Kafarū Layuzliqūnaka Bi'abşarihim Lamma Sami`ū Adh-Dhikra Wa Yaqūlūna 'Innahu Lamajnūnun |
| 68:52 | وَمَا هُوَ إِلاَّ ذِكر ٌ لِلعَالَمِينَ But it is nothing else than a Reminder to all the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). Wa Ma Huwa 'Illa Dhikrun Lil`alamina |
