وَاذكُر عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذ نَادَى رَبَّهُ~ُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِي الشَّيطَانُ بِنُصب ٍ وَعَذَاب ٍ

And rememberOur slave Ayub (Job), when he invoked his Lord (saying):"Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has touched me withdistress (by losing my health) and torment (by losing my wealth)!

Wa Adhkur `Abdana 'Ayyūba 'Idh Nadá Rabbahu 'Anni Massani Ash-Shayţanu Binuşbin Wa `Adhabin

اركُض بِرِجْلِكَ هَذَا مُغتَسَل ٌ بَارِد ٌ وَشَرَاب ٌ

(Allah said to him): "Strike the ground with your foot: This isa spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink."

Arkuđ Birijlika Hadha Mughtasalun Baridun Wa Sharabun

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ~ُ أَهلَه ُُ وَمِثلَهُممَعَهُم رَحمَة ً مِنَّا وَذِكرَى لِأولِي الأَلبَابِ

And We gave him(back) his family, and along with them the like thereof, as a Mercy from Us, and a Reminder for those who understand.

Wa Wahabna Lahu 'Ahlahu Wa Mithlahum Ma`ahum Raĥmatan Minna Wa Dhikrá Li'wli Al-'Albabi

وَخُذ بِيَدِكَ ضِغثا ً فَاضرِببِه ِِ وَلاَ تَحنَث إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاه ُُ صَابِرا ً نِعمَ العَبْدُ إِنَّهُ~ُ أَوَّاب ٌ

"And take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith (yourwife), and break not your oath. Truly! We found him patient. How excellent (a) slave! Verily,he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)!

Wa Khudh Biyadika Đighthaan Fađrib Bihi Wa La Taĥnath 'Inna Wa Jadnahu Şabiraan Ni`ma Al-`Abdu 'Innahu 'Awwabun

وَاذكُر عِبَادَنَا إبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسحَاقَ وَيَعقُوبَ أُولِي الأَيدِي وَالأَبْصَارِ

And remember Our slaves, Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac), andYa'qub (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding.

Wa Adhkur `Ibadana 'Ibrahima Wa 'Isĥaqa Wa Ya`qūba 'Ūli Al-'Aydi Wa Al-'Abşari

إِنَّا أَخلَصنَاهُمبِخَالِصَة ٍ ذِكرَى الدَّارِ

Verily, We did choose them by granting them (a good thing, i.e.) the remembranceof the home [in the Hereafter and they used to make the people remember it, and also they used to invite the people to obey Allah and to do good deeds for the Hereafter].

'Inna 'Akhlaşnahum Bikhalişatin Dhikrá Ad-Dari

وَإِنَّهُم عِنْدَنَا لَمِنَ المُصطَفَينَ الأَخيَارِ

And they are with Us, verily, of the chosen and the best!

Wa 'Innahum `Indana Lamina Al-Muşţafayna Al-'Akhyari

وَاذكُر إِسمَاعِيلَ وَاليَسَعَ وَذَا الكِفلِ وَكُلّ ٌ مِنَ الأَخيَارِ

And remember Isma'il (Ishmael), Al­Yasa'a (Elisha), and Dhul-Kifl(Isaiah), all are among the best.

Wa Adhkur 'Isma`ila Wa Al-Yasa`a Wa Dha Al-Kifli Wa Kullun Mina Al-'Akhyari

هَذَا ذِكر ٌ وَإِنَّ لِلمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسنَ مَآب ٍ

This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) is a good final return (Paradise).

Hadha Dhikrun Wa 'Inna Lilmuttaqina Laĥusna Ma'abin

جَنَّاتِ عَدْن ٍ مُفَتَّحَة ً لَهُمُ الأَبْوَابُ

'Adn (Edn) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be open for them, [It is said (in Tafsir At-Tabari, Part 23, Page 174) that one can speak to the doors, just one tells it to open and close, and it will open or close as it is ordered].

Jannati `Adnin Mufattaĥatan Lahumu Al-'Abwabu

مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَاكِهَة ٍ كَثِيرَة ٍ وَشَرَاب ٍ

Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks;

Muttaki'ina Fiha Yad`ūna Fiha Bifakihatin Kathiratin Wa Sharabin

وَعِنْدَهُم قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرفِ أَترَاب ٌ

And beside them will be chaste females (virgins) restraining their glances only for their husbands, (and) of equal ages.

Wa `Indahum Qaşiratu Aţ-Ţarfi 'Atrabun

هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَومِ الحِسَابِ

This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun - the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning!

Hadha Ma Tū`adūna Liyawmi Al-Ĥisabi

إِنَّ هَذَا لَرِزقُنَا مَا لَه ُُ مِننَفَاد ٍ

(It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our Provision which will never finish;

'Inna Hadha Larizquna Ma Lahu Min Nafadin

هَذَا وَإِنَّ لِلطَّاغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَآب ٍ

This is so! And for the Taghun (transgressors, disobedient to Allah and His Messenger - disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, criminals, etc.), will be an evil final return(Fire),

Hadha Wa 'Inna Lilţţaghina Lasharra Ma'abin

جَهَنَّمَ يَصلَونَهَا فَبِئسَ المِهَادُ

Hell! Where they will burn, and worst (indeed) is that place to rest!

Jahannama Yaşlawnaha Fabi'sa Al-Mihadu

هَذَا فَليَذُوقُوه ُُ حَمِيم ٌ وَغَسَّاق ٌ

This is so! Then let them taste it, a boiling fluid and dirty wound discharges.

Hadha Falyadhūqūhu Ĥamimun Wa Ghassaqun

وَآخَرُ مِنشَكلِهِ~ِ أَزوَاج ٌ

And other torments of similar kind, all together!

Wa 'Ākharu Min Shaklihi 'Azwajun

هَذَا فَوج ٌ مُقْتَحِم ٌ مَعَكُم لاَ مَرحَبا ً بِهِم إِنَّهُم صَالُوا النَّارِ

This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire!

Hadha Fawjun Muqtaĥimun Ma`akum La Marĥabaan Bihim 'Innahum Şalū An-Nari

قَالُوا بَل أَنْتُم لاَ مَرحَبا ً بِكُم أَنْتُم قَدَّمتُمُوه ُُ لَنَا فَبِئسَ القَرَارُ

(The followers of the misleaders will say): "Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you (misleaders) who brought this upon us (because you misled us in the world), so evil is this place to stay in!"

Qalū Bal 'Antum La Marĥabaan Bikum 'Antum Qaddamtumūhu Lana Fabi'sa Al-Qararu

قَالُوا رَبَّنَا مَنقَدَّمَ لَنَا هَذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابا ً ضِعفا ً فِي النَّارِ

They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!"

Qalū Rabbana Man Qaddama Lana Hadha Fazid/hu `Adhabaan Đi`faan Fi An-Nari

وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا لاَ نَرَى رِجَالا ً كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُممِنَ الأَشرَار

And they will say: "What is the matter with us that we see not men whom we used to count among the bad ones?"

Wa Qalū Ma Lana La Nará Rijalaan Kunna Na`udduhum Mina Al-'Ashrar

أَاتَّخَذنَاهُم سِخرِيّاً أَم زَاغَت عَنهُمُ الأَبْصَارُ

Did we take them as an object of mockery, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?"

'Āttakhadhnahum Sikhriyaan 'Am Zaghat `Anhumu Al-'Abşaru

إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَحَقّ ٌ تَخَاصُمُ أَهلِ النَّارِ

Verily, that is the very truth, the mutual dispute of the people of the Fire!

'Inna Dhalika Laĥaqqun Takhaşumu 'Ahli An-Nari

قُل إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُنذِر ٌ وَمَا مِنإِلَهٍ~ ٍ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ الوَاحِدُ القَهَّارُ

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I am only a warner and there is no Ilah (God) except Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) the One, the Irresistible,

Qul 'Innama 'Ana Mundhirun Wa Ma Min 'Ilahin 'Illa Allahu Al-Waĥidu Al-Qahharu

رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرضِ وَمَا بَينَهُمَا العَزِيزُ الغَفَّارُ

"The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving."

Rabbu As-Samawati Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Ma Baynahuma Al-`Azizu Al-Ghaffaru

قُل هُوَ نَبَأٌ عَظِيم ٌ

Say: "That (this Qur'an) is a great news,

Qul Huwa Naba'un `Ažimun

أَنْتُم عَنهُ مُعرِضُونَ

"From which you turn away!

'Antum `Anhu Mu`riđūna

مَا كَانَ لِيَ مِن عِلم ٍ بِالمَلَإِ الأَعلَى إِذ يَختَصِمُونَ

"I had no knowledge of the chiefs (angels) on high when they were disputing and discussing (about the creation of Adam).

Ma Kana Liya Min `Ilmin Bil-Mala'i Al-'A`lá 'Idh Yakhtaşimūna

إِنيُوحَى إِلَيَّ إِلاَّ أَنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِير ٌ مُبِين ٌ

"Only this has been inspired to me, that I am a plain warner."

'In Yūĥá 'Ilayya 'Illa 'Annama 'Ana Nadhirun Mubinun

إِذ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِق ٌ بَشَرا ً مِنطِين ٍ

(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay".

'Idh Qala Rabbuka Lilmala'ikati 'Inni Khaliqun Basharaan Min Ţinin

فَإِذَا سَوَّيتُه ُُ وَنَفَختُ فِيه ِِ مِنرُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَه ُُ سَاجِدِينَ

So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him."

Fa'idha Sawwaytuhu Wa Nafakhtu Fihi Min Rūĥi Faqa`ū Lahu Sajidina

فَسَجَدَ المَلاَئِكَةُ كُلُّهُم أَجْمَعُونَ

So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them:

Fasajada Al-Mala'ikatu Kulluhum 'Ajma`ūna

إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ استَكبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الكَافِرِينَ

Except Iblis(Satan) he was proud and was one of the disbelievers.

'Illa 'Iblisa Astakbara Wa Kana Mina Al-Kafirina

قَالَ يَاإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنتَسجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ أَاستَكبَرتَ أَم كُنتَ مِنَ العَالِينَ

(Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the highly exalted?"

Qala Ya 'Iblisu Ma Mana`aka 'An Tasjuda Lima Khalaqtu Biyadayya 'Āstakbarta 'Am Kunta Mina Al-`Ālina

قَالَ أَنَا خَير ٌ مِنهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِننَار ٍ وَخَلَقْتَه ُُ مِنطِين ٍ

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."

Qala 'Ana Khayrun Minhu Khalaqtani Min Narin Wa Khalaqtahu Min Ţinin

قَالَ فَاخرُجمِنهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيم ٌ

(Allah) said: "Then get out from here, for verily, you are outcast.

Qala Fakhruj Minha Fa'innaka Rajimun

وَإِنَّ عَلَيكَ لَعنَتِي إِلَى يَومِ الدِّينِ

"And verily! ,My Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense."

Wa 'Inna `Alayka La`nati 'Ilá Yawmi Ad-Dini

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرنِي إِلَى يَومِ يُبْعَثُونَ

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "My Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are resurrected."

Qala Rabbi Fa'anžirni 'Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنظَرِينَ

(Allah) said: "Verily! You are of those allowed respite

Qala Fa'innaka Mina Al-Munžarina
