(51) Surat Adh-Dhariyat سُورَة الذَّارِيَات

51:1

وَالذَّارِيَاتِ ذَروا ً

By (the winds) that scatter dust.

Wa Adh-Dhariyati Dharwan

51:2

فَالحَامِلاَتِ وِقْرا ً

And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water;

Falĥamilati Wiqraan

51:3

فَالجَارِيَاتِ يُسرا ً

And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness;

Faljariyati Yusraan

51:4

فَالمُقَسِّمَاتِ أَمرا ً

And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command;­

Falmuqassimati 'Amraan

51:5

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِق ٌ

Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true.

'Innama Tū`adūna Laşadiqun

51:6

وَإِنَّ الدِّينَ لَوَاقِع ٌ

And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen.

Wa 'Inna Ad-Dina Lawaqi`un

51:7

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الحُبُكِ

By the heaven full of paths,

Wa As-Sama'i Dhati Al-Ĥubuki

51:8

إِنَّكُم لَفِي قَول ٍ مُختَلِف ٍ

Certainly, you have different ideas (about Muhammad SAW and the Qur'an).

'Innakum Lafi Qawlin Mukhtalifin

51:9

يُؤفَكُ عَنهُ مَن أُفِكَ

Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Qur'an) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah).

Yu'ufaku `Anhu Man 'Ufika

51:10

قُتِلَ الخَرَّاصُونَ

Cursed be the liars,

Qutila Al-Kharraşūna

51:11

الَّذِينَ هُم فِي غَمرَة ٍ سَاهُونَ

Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter),

Al-Ladhina Hum Fi Ghamratin Sahūna

51:12

يَسأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَومُ الدِّينِ

They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?"

Yas'alūna 'Ayyana Yawmu Ad-Dini

51:13

يَومَ هُم عَلَى النَّارِ يُفتَنُونَ

(It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire!

Yawma Hum `Alá An-Nari Yuftanūna

51:14

ذُوقُوا فِتنَتَكُم هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمبِه ِِ تَستَعجِلُونَ

"Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!"

Dhūqū Fitnatakum Hadha Al-Ladhi Kuntum Bihi Tasta`jilūna

51:15

إِنَّ المُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّات ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ

Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise),

'Inna Al-Muttaqina Fi Jannatin Wa `Uyūnin

51:16

آخِذِينَ مَا آتَاهُم رَبُّهُم إِنَّهُم كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُحسِنِينَ

Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112).

'Ākhidhina Ma 'Ātahum Rabbuhum 'Innahum Kanū Qabla Dhalika Muĥsinina

51:17

كَانُوا قَلِيلا ً مِنَ اللَّيلِ مَا يَهجَعُونَ

They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope].

Kanū Qalilaan Mina Al-Layli Ma Yahja`ūna

51:18

وَبِالأَسحَارِ هُم يَستَغفِرُونَ

And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness,

Wa Bil-'Asĥari Hum Yastaghfirūna

51:19

وَفِي أَموَالِهِم حَقّ ٌ لِلسَّائِلِ وَالمَحرُومِ

And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others),

Wa Fi 'Amwalihim Ĥaqqun Lilssa'ili Wa Al-Maĥrūmi

51:20

وَفِي الأَرضِ آيَات ٌ لِلمُوقِنِينَ

And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty,

Wa Fi Al-'Arđi 'Āyatun Lilmūqinina

51:21

وَفِي أَنفُسِكُم أَفَلاَ تُبْصِرُونَ

And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?

Wa Fi 'Anfusikum 'Afala Tubşirūna

51:22

وَفِي السَّمَاءِ رِزقُكُم وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ

And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised.

Wa Fi As-Sama'i Rizqukum Wa Ma Tū`adūna

51:23

فَوَرَبِّ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرضِ إِنَّه ُُ لَحَقّ ٌ مِثلَ مَا أَنَّكُم تَنطِقُونَ

Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak.

Fawarabbi As-Sama'i Wa Al-'Arđi 'Innahu Laĥaqqun Mithla Ma 'Annakum Tanţiqūna

51:24

هَل أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ المُكرَمِينَ

Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)?

Hal 'Ataka Ĥadithu Đayfi 'Ibrahima Al-Mukramina

51:25

إِذ دَخَلُوا عَلَيهِ فَقَالُوا سَلاَما ً قَالَ سَلاَم ٌ قَوم ٌ مُنكَرُونَ

When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you )," and said: "You are a people unknown to me,"

'Idh Dakhalū `Alayhi Faqalū Salamaan Qala Salamun Qawmun Munkarūna

51:26

فَرَاغَ إِلَى أَهلِه ِِ فَجَاءَ بِعِجْل ٍ سَمِين ٍ

Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows].

Faragha 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Faja'a Bi`ijlin Saminin

51:27

فَقَرَّبَهُ~ُ إِلَيهِم قَالَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ

And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?"

Faqarrabahu 'Ilayhim Qala 'Ala Ta'kulūna

51:28

فَأَوجَسَ مِنهُم خِيفَة ً قَالُوا لاَ تَخَف وَبَشَّرُوه ُُ بِغُلاَمٍ عَلِيم ٍ

Then he conceived a fear of them (when they ate not). They said: "Fear not." And they gave him glad tidings of an intelligent son, having knowledge (about Allah and His religion of True Monotheism).

Fa'awjasa Minhum Khifatan Qalū La Takhaf Wa Bashsharūhu Bighulamin `Alimin

51:29

فَأَقْبَلَتِ امرَأَتُه ُُ فِي صَرَّة ٍ فَصَكَّت وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَت عَجُوزٌ عَقِيم ٌ

Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!"

Fa'aqbalati Amra'atuhu Fi Şarratin Faşakkat Wajhaha Wa Qalat `Ajūzun `Aqimun

51:30

قَالُوا كَذَلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ إِنَّه ُُ هُوَ الحَكِيمُ العَلِيمُ

They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower."

Qalū Kadhaliki Qala Rabbuki 'Innahu Huwa Al-Ĥakimu Al-`Alimu

51:31

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُم أَيُّهَا المُرسَلُونَ

[Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?"

Qala Fama Khaţbukum 'Ayyuha Al-Mursalūna

51:32

قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرسِلنَا إِلَى قَوم ٍ مُجْرِمِينَ

They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah);

Qalū 'Inna 'Ursilna 'Ilá Qawmin Mujrimina

51:33

لِنُرسِلَ عَلَيهِم حِجَارَة ً مِنطِين ٍ

To send down upon them stones of baked clay.

Linursila `Alayhim Ĥijaratan Min Ţinin

51:34

مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلمُسرِفِينَ

Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins).

Musawwamatan `Inda Rabbika Lilmusrifina

51:35

فَأَخرَجْنَا مَنكَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ المُؤمِنِينَ

So We brought out from therein the believers.

Fa'akhrajna Man Kana Fiha Mina Al-Mu'uminina

51:36

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيرَ بَيت ٍ مِنَ المُسلِمِينَ

But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters].

Fama Wajadna Fiha Ghayra Baytin Mina Al-Muslimina

51:37

وَتَرَكنَا فِيهَا آيَة ً لِلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ العَذَابَ الأَلِيمَ

And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea , well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment.

Wa Tarakna Fiha 'Āyatan Lilladhina Yakhafūna Al-`Adhaba Al-'Alima

51:38

وَفِي مُوسَى إِذ أَرسَلنَاهُ~ُ إِلَى فِرعَونَ بِسُلطَان ٍ مُبِين ٍ

And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority.

Wa Fi Mūsá 'Idh 'Arsalnahu 'Ilá Fir`awna Bisulţanin Mubinin

51:39

فَتَوَلَّى بِرُكنِه ِِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَو مَجْنُون ٌ

But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman."

Fatawallá Biruknihi Wa Qala Saĥirun 'Aw Majnūnun

51:40

فَأَخَذنَاه ُُ وَجُنُودَه ُُ فَنَبَذنَاهُم فِي اليَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيم ٌ

So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed.

Fa'akhadhnahu Wa Junūdahu Fanabadhnahum Fi Al-Yammi Wa Huwa Mulimun
