Ash-Sharh [Solace] 8 verses, revealed in Makkah


(94) Surat Ash-Sharh سُورَة الشَّرح

94:1

أَلَم نَشرَح لَكَ صَدْرَكَ

Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))?

'Alam Nashraĥ Laka Şadraka

94:2

وَوَضَعنَا عَنكَ وِزرَكَ

And removed from you your burden,

Wa Wađa`na `Anka Wizraka

94:3

الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهرَكَ

Which weighed down your back?

Al-Ladhi 'Anqađa Žahraka

94:4

وَرَفَعنَا لَكَ ذِكرَكَ

And raised high your fame?

Wa Rafa`na Laka Dhikraka

94:5

فَإِنَّ مَعَ العُسرِ يُسرا ً

So verily, with the hardship, there is relief,

Fa'inna Ma`a Al-`Usri Yusraan

94:6

إِنَّ مَعَ العُسرِ يُسرا ً

Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).

'Inna Ma`a Al-`Usri Yusraan

94:7

فَإِذَا فَرَغتَ فَانصَب

So when you have finished (from your occupation), then stand up for Allah's worship (i.e. stand up for prayer).

Fa'idha Faraghta Fanşab

94:8

وَإِلَى رَبِّكَ فَارغَب

And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your intentions and hopes and) your invocations.

Wa 'Ilá Rabbika Farghab
